TOLEDO (13abd Action News) -- A woman is dead after Toledo Police say she drove around crossing gates blocking railroad tracks and was hit by an oncoming Norfolk Southern train. It happened at about 10:38 PM Thursday on Wenz near South Avenue. According to investigators, the woman was behind the wheel of a car which maneuvered around the gates that appeared to be properly functioning along with flashing lights at the crossing. TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A Toledo man admitted in court Thursday morning that he killed his wife. Police found Katie Sheppard, 29, dead inside her Toledo home in November of 2012. He husband, Kyle Sheppard, fled to Canada. Kyle appeared in Lucas County Common Pleas court Thursday morning. He pleaded guilty to killing Katie five years ago.
